Michael Campbell's 200 Page Website Challenge

I'd liek you to meet Michael Campbell. He's been in the internet marketing game since the world wide web was in it's infancy ... For those of you in the know - that was back when dial-up on 2400 baud modems was the top speed - and all the content and online gaming you could ever want was contained on a Bulletin Board System (BBS) in one of your neighbor's basements... Today, I am going to share Michae; Campbell's 200 Page Website Challenge. This tiny little gem is a diamond in the rough ... it needs to be polished, it will require some work to dig out the valuable jewel, but when you work your way through it ... this could be your ticket to a lifetime of wealth and riches. (* Boy that sounds like a cheesy late-night tv info-mercial pitch!)

In all seriousness - while I was reviewing a pile of ebooks, white papers, special reports, and promotional reports - this report surfaced and I was floored. It has been three years since it was first published - and most people STILL DON'T follow these simple methods of developing their website as an income generating resource. Which is hard to believe because - as Michael points out - it's so easy and takes only 30 minutes a day!

Here's how to build a 200 page site, in just 30 minutes per day or less. You don't have to work weekends or holidays. Just five days per week, 30 minutes per day. Can't spare 30 minutes a day? How about turning off the TV? And instead of "spending" time, you "invest" that same time back into your future, for yourself, your friends and your family.

Let's get started...

Go to Yahoo and look at their top level categories. You'll find things like autos, tech, travel, games, personals and shopping. Click on the shopping link and look at the categories. Pick one that you are passionate about, or at least have some interest in.

Drilling down I chose "Sports and Outdoors." Going further into the subcategories I selected "Exercise and Fitness." Now I can see what my web site should be about... yoga, pilates, treadmills, heart rate monitors, home gyms and other gear.

Next I need content. Sure I'll write some of it myself. But if I'm only going to devote 30 minutes a day, I'll need to jumpstart the content. The best source for this is the Article Underground. Get 400 Articles per Month ==> http://www.pooririshman.com/old/links/affiliates/article-underground-phase-3.html

The articles from the Underground are PLR content, which means private label rights. You can do anything you want to these articles except resell them. You can change them, slice them, dice them into whatever concoction your heart desires.

Having been a member for over a year, there's more than 5,000 articles sitting on my hard drive. A search for "treadmill" revealed 26 articles with the word treadmill in them.

There were two drool-worthy ones, Buying a Treadmill for the Home and The Benefits of a Treadmill. A quick copy & paste got them into my web page editor. I use SeaMonkey, which you can download for free from the Mozilla Project at: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/

The next step is to swap out synonymous words, replacing words like gym with fitness club, exercise with sweat, lose weight with melt fat. I try to use better verbs and action words whenever possible. Feel free to change whatever you like and make the article your own.

Now comes an introduction to the article. I'll often go to Amazon to pull quotes from leading authorities. Yes, copying a quote or a brief passage is permitted under copyright law. Just don't overdo it.

I might glean something like, According to fitness authority Dr. Bob Smith, "Treadmills are no longer the big, loud and clunky beasts they once were. Now they are smooth and easy to run on."

And then interject my own comments like, "Ask any personal trainer, and they'll tell you that a treadmill will have you in the best shape of your life, in as little as nine weeks."

Better yet, read three information sources. Include things like comments and safety concerns from popular magazines and independent testing labs.

That's called research. Now put what they said into your own words. Pretend you're doing a book report, just like you did back in grade six.

Limit this entire process of modifying the article to 20 minutes. Set a timer if you have to. You'll be surprised at how fast you'll get at this. Especially if you've made a web page template page for the content.

Now it's time for photos. You could snag a quick image from the manufacturer's site, if it's the make and model that you're trying to sell. But chances are, it's just a static product shot, of a cold, hard, lifeless machine. Yea... like that'll make 'em wanna buy one. ;-)

I click over to iStockPhoto.com and search for treadmill. Now I've got 64 high quality photos to choose from. Action shots of people sweating and smiling about it. Now that's the mental image I WANT to project.

Remember, the most missing element on any web page is the human element. So if you want people to feel comfortable and buy a lot of products, you need pictures of happy people.

Not just people using a product, but showing the end result that you want them to achieve. A thinner, more attractive, healthier looking body.

In fact, that would make an excellent headline. In H1 tags at the top of the page put "Fitness Equipment: Treadmills" then in H2 right underneath that, "Have a thinner more attractive looking body with a treadmill."

Now drop a photo reinforcing that headline at the top left hand corner of the page, right underneath the headline. Drop another photo half way down the article and flush it to the right.

The end of the article is a good place to conclude with the "most popular" or "highest rated" treadmills. These are your affiliate links that lead to the sale of the products.

(Everything you need to know about linking to - and earning revenue from - affiliate programs is in Clickin' it Rich. You can get it and other free downloadable internet marketing ebooks below.)

Click ==> http://www.internetmarketingsecrets.com/downloads/

OK... now it's time to silence the skeptics. I followed this exact same formula and have a site that's netting over 15,000 dollars per year in front end sales. But that's not enough. We need to ramp the business up. If you've heard it said that the affiliate revenue model is not scalable... Don't pay any attention to them. They didn't think it through.

You must try and capture the visitor's contact information before they leave your site. If your sites are related, one newsletter can cover all of your sites. If you stick to health and fitness related sites, then everything from pure bottled water to the latest running shoe, becomes potential news and revenue for you. Send a little something, a short note or newsletter, at least once every two weeks.

The revenue from these back end sales, can be 400% more than the initial front end sale. As you communicate with your readers, you build trust and friendship. Respect the relationship and they'll continue to buy through your links for years to come.

Keep adding related sites and keep building the readership. This will scale your affiliate revenue model. You are building a real business with web properties and a readership. You still don't need employees, or to handle any physical products.

Take it... the 200 page challenge. Commit 30 minutes per day, to adding one new page to your authority site. At the end of a year, you'll have that 200 page site. Chances are... if you were to make a handful of these sites, they would generate more than your day job.

And when you take away the commute time, gas, maintenance, car insurance, bag lunches, office clothes, and the time it takes to shop for these things, you'll probably have an extra $20,000 per year, in your pocket, on top of the affiliate revenue.

Can you spare 30 minutes a day? How about turning off the TV? And instead of "spending" time, you "invest" that same time back into your future, for yourself, your friends and your family.

That's it for this report my friend. Thank you for reading. We'll chat again soon. Until then, here's wishing you all the best for online success.

Save Money AND Reach Your Audience

How Distracted Is Your Audience?

Check these surprising 2009 statistics from a notable professional association:

Since 1999, average work time has increased 20%

Since 1989, 75% of managers work 40+ hrs/wk managing 600% more information # Professionals average at least 10 hrs/wk in meetings

Employees spend 18 hrs/wk dealing with interruptions # The US Postal Service processed 203 billion pieces of mail in 2008 (That’s 7,700 pieces each second!)

Sounds like a lot, right? Now look at THESE three findings:

The Radicati Group found that the number of emails sent PER DAY in 2008 was near 210 billion

CTIA reports Americans sent more than 1 trillion text messages in 2008. 2009 numbers have clearly eclipsed even those figures.

Research conducted by the ePolicy Institute found that employees spend as much as 20% of their workday reading and responding to email.

THE BOTTOM LINE? Today’s audience is starved for time and inundated with information. If you want your message to cut through the clutter, it must be relevant, timely and creative.1

So what does this mean for the "average" small business owner? Odds are you’ll need to go "outside" yourself and your organization to find a proven and experienced talent capable of understanding your business and your market and your customers and your message.

BEWARE that Ad Agencies, Marketing Agencies and "Groups"are more likely to pursue industry recognition awards than sales for your company. Be especially hesitant of those that call themselves "full service" unless you have Fortune 500-level budgets to dispose of.

They are also likely to charge excessive fees. For openers, the industry standard is to charge you 15% of all media costs (broadcast air time, print ad space, Internet banner fees) that they book for you (which you of course can "book" for yourself to save the "agency commission."

NEXT, you should additionally expect to pay 17.65% of all production costs (including illustrations, photography, printing, studio production, editing, graphic design, list rentals...you name it!)

...PLUS you’ll pay other fees that are rarely evident until the moment something is needed to be finalized. Don’t you love financial surprises?

This translates to: SHOP AROUND! There are plenty of talented and experienced freelance writers and small one-man-band and one-woman-band businesses out there. You can get far better quality creative sales writing and design services for far less money than the big city slicker organizations that need to cover their expensive overhead!

# # #

Thanks for reading! Go for your goals! God Bless You! Make today GREAT!!!
Input always welcome Hal@TheWriterWorks.com "PoorIrishman" in subject line.
Challenge: Eat 50 Eggs!

Do you enjoy a challenge? Some people live for challenges - especially of the eating competition variety! Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs makes a fortune off their hot dog eating competition and the brand recognition it brings to their company each and every year. One challenge I can never forget was portrayed in the film Cool Hand Luke, starring Paul Newman.

Paul Newman stars in the title role as Luke, a prisoner in a prison camp. Luke refuses to submit to the system! His inability to conform drives the entire plot of the movie. You may recall the famous line "What we have here is... a failure to communicate!" Classic! Did you know that in 2005, the United States Library of Congress deemed Cool Hand Luke to be "culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant". The film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. But I think it was probably selected for this scene alone ...

kNyl6gXLMLQ

Luke: I can eat fifty eggs.
Dragline: Nobody can eat fifty eggs.
Society Red: You just said he could eat anything.
Dragline: Did you ever eat fifty eggs?
Luke: Nobody ever eat fifty eggs.
Prisoner: Hey, Babalugats. We got a bet here.
Dragline: My boy says he can eat fifty eggs, he can eat fifty eggs.
Loudmouth Steve: Yeah, but in how long?
Luke: A hour.
Society Red: Well, I believe I'll take part of that wager.

Find out what Cool Hand Luke's egg eating challenge can teach you about writing articles for your website or blog that bring people flooding back to your website day after day, month after month, and year after year...

Writing for a website or a blog is a lot like Luke's challenge to eat 50 eggs - *Yuck* I can hardly stomach one hard boiled egg! The only thing standing between Luke and the finish line was one egg. Well ... of course there were 50 of them, all lined up one behind the other, but the challenge was still met - One Egg At A Time.

Try to write your website or blog in chunks. Don't get overwhelmed. Or you'll go down like a chump - and miss the opportunity to win a lot of customers just by telling them about your company, products, and services.

Think about it this way - what is your top selling product? Can you think of seven (just 7) features of that product that excite people when they learn about the feature. Can you think of seven (just 7 now...) benefits that win the customer over EVERY SINGLE TIME?

If you can think of just seven small chunks of information surrounding your product - jot them down in a list. Now, expand on those seven small chunks. Try to stretch out the details you share with your customer into three small paragraphs. Don't kill yourself Luke - Slow down a little bit! All you have to do is write three or four sentences to have a quality paragraph. Most people won't read much more than that before moving on anyhow...

So grab that first item in your list - and start your first paragraph with a question! If you product saves time - put yourself in your customer's shoes and ask a question like ... "Wouldn't it be nice to save more time around the house, freeing you up to enjoy your family & friends?" Well, heck, yeah it would! Take just a second to expand on that thought. Paint a picture made of words for your reader. Illustrate the frustration from lost time your potential customer is currently experiencing.

Next paragraph! Keep going Luke, only a few more to go... Write another short paragraph - this time describing your solution to the problem of lost time. Highlight the primary feature that your product delivers to save customers the most time. Don't waste time on expanding past the single most time saving feature. Focus only on one feature! Save all those other features for additional blog entries or website articles.

Finally - deliver on the promise! Swallow the egg! This is the last step to devouring your first hard boiled 'content-egg'. Tell your customer exactly what they need to do to save time. Give them the exact steps to call your office and order, visit your store and buy, or click on a button to download the product you plan to put in their hands.

Great! You swallowed one egg out of seven. Don't stop now - snatch up the next egg and break it down the same way you did the first one - and then just keep right on going ... Don't stop until you reach seven eggs... uhhh... I mean blog posts or website articles! Before too long you will have a week's worth of content ready to publish to your website or blog about a single product or service.

Step back a moment and survey your entire product catalog, or service offering. Can you see twelve or more products or services. You can?! GREAT! Then you can quickly develop a WHOLE YEAR'S WORTH of content in the course of an afternoon! Just break the eggs down one at a time ... Product by product, seven articles by seven small articles. In no time at all you will have enough content to stagger over the course of twelve long months.

These website articles and blog posts don't have to go on the site all at once. You can stagger their delivery to the world. Then let customers know when a new article is posted using email or social networks. Soon customers will be looking for your insightful short articles to tell them more about your company and products. And over the course of a week, a month, or a year - those visitors translate into qualified prospects that you will turn into happy customers!

Way to go ... I guess you can rise to the challenge!
