Dover AFB and QOVF Ceremony
Today marked a special occasion in Poor Irishman history - and my personal view of military funerals. Catherine Roberts, Founder of Quilts of Valor - a client of mine - invited Jessica and I to attend a special QOVF Presentation Ceremony in Dover. The Air Force Base is known around the world for - among other accomplishments - being the one facility where all military dead are processed before being sent home for final rest… They also assist in major civilian operations.
QOVF has always awarded quilts to injured servicemen and women who need healing and recovery. The quilts aid in the process and show the service member the love, support, and thanks of a grateful nation. Today the honor was given to men and women who daily take the toll of death and suffering "home with them each night because there is no time to cry on the job." As one of the wing commanders leading the ceremony pointed out.
Catherine's heart went out to the people who face this dark, sad, and also dignified side of war. And knew they should be honored, and their spirits healed with a QOVF. I was honored to attend.
