How the Web Changed My Life!
The Internet allowed me to discover new places, ponder new ideas, meet new friends, and create new opportunities in my life!
When I was in college I decided to take travel and work for a summer. I did not know where I wanted to go - but the Internet helped me find a seasonal job in Yellowstone National Park. That summer alone changed my life - but the discovery never would have been possible without research done online.
The internet and world wide web has done more to expose me to new ideas than I would ever dream possible. Not only because new discoveries can be spread quickly online - but also because of the way one can experience and view our world through the internet as a medium. I have always been an active member of online communities, and virtual spaces - like Second Life, and others. Thoughts and Ideas are stirred within me everytime I take a step through a virtual world and wonder about the impact out virtual actions have on our physical world. I often consider how the actions and beliefs one exhibits online will translate into the emotional and spiritual history we carry with us through our real-offline-lives.
Over the years, I have always used the web to meet new people. This has been the primary focus of my time online. From randomly meeting kids my own age with similar interests, to seeking out groups of like minded people to share in worship, politics, and real-world activities. One of he most interesting connections would have to be with Claudia from Cricava Technologies. Claudia and met up while working on a project together for a non-profit organization. She is a great person, and an amazing programmer - and now what the job is over we stay in constant communication via online chat.
At this stage in my life I have been fortunate enough to start my own company. After several positions with companies as a network administrator, and marketing assistant I decided to combine my love of programming, and the internet with real benefit to myself. I started out small with a few friend's personal sites - but soon I was helping contracted clients creat new identities online - and build a thriving precense on the web. The web has really created a new opportunity for me to be able to provide for myself and my family.
