I have collaborated with people from other countries in many ways - using only the web!  In one position I held it was my responsilibity to trade mailing lists with international clients.  People spread all over the world relied on my understanding of direct mail lists and their ability to sway consumer decision that they turned to me to find the best list targeting their international market.  In other cases I have established working realtionships with people like Claudia from Cricava Technologies, ZulloP from Web Revolutions - a theme shop for Joomla websites, and many other dedicated open source programmers from around the world.  There is really no way to operate a successful business online if you don't have the ability to collaborate with internationally based partners and clients.
